Kind. Accepting. Inclusive.

Fall is in swing here at LAHH but not in the way you might imagine. We’re not buying those lattes from Starbucks or carving pumpkins. Because October is National Bullying Prevention Month!

This initiative was begun by PACER Center - an organization run by the parents of students with disabilities. This is an organization whose mission is dear to us because some of the people they help protect and fight for in the educational arena will be more ready to enter the workforce due to this protection and support. Many of our employees at LAHH experienced bullying in school and would have benefited greatly from a PACER Center in their community.

The signature event of their awareness campaign is Unity Day, which we joined in this year to celebrate on October 22. It’s a day set aside to come together to send a visible message to the world by wearing and sharing the most October color of all: Orange!

Three simple words for this year’s theme: Kind. Accepting. Inclusive.

These adjectives open up the entire world not only for victims but for all of us. They’re the building blocks of community. The starting point for human relations that last. So if you want to show support get involved by checking out their webpage and social media. And next year get ready for October 22 and wear ORANGE!

October marks the 80th anniversary of the celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This year’s theme is “Celebrating Value and Talent,” which is how we see our own organization. LAHH lives to train and educate our talented workforce so their value shines in the world.
